This year marks our 63rd year in the Registered Angus Business and our 42nd annual production sale. We are offering something special by holding a mature cow dispersal in addition to our annual bull sale. We will sell the majority of our cows three years old and older and suspend our annual production sale for the time being. We have kept the heifers born in 2006 and the spring of 2007 as a foundation for the future and will concentrate our attention on a smaller, younger herd.
We anticipate selling a limited number of bred heifers and cows through private treaty along with private treaty bull sales throughout the year. Our newest herd sires, CW 1037 Newest Design 315 and QLC Structure G298T, will be the focus of our breeding program in the years to come.
We are offering 80 bred females and pairs this year. In that group there are 45 bred spring calving cows and six bred heifers. The great majority were AIíd to our newest herd sire, QLC Structure G298T and will calve by sale day. QLC Structure G298T was the top selling bull at Quirkís 2007 Bull Sale and has generated a lot of interest. He continues to impress with his muscle, growth and disposition. Buyers of these females will have the first opportunity to own his calves.
The second part of the cow sale will feature the heart and soul of our fall calving program. Over half of the fall calves are by CW 280 Midland 584. Other sires representated are Genetics By Design 049 and CW 1037 Newest Design 315. All the fall calving cows were exposed to CW 1037 Newest Design 315 from November 15 to March 1. Most will be safe in calf and many will sell as ìthree in ones.
Choice and diversity are the keywords for our fall and spring yearling bulls this year. Seven different herd and AI sires are represented in this group of bulls this year. Calving ease, maternal excellence, fertility and muscle are stacked throughout the pedigrees represented here. Pay special attention to the Blueprint calves out of CW 1037 Newest Design 315. They form the largest sire grouping in the sale.
